Denny holds two degrees; one in Business Administration and one in Business Management from Northwood University in Midland, Michigan. In 1972, he became an owner of a retail marina with a Sea Ray franchise, located on Torch Lake in Northern Michigan. In 1978, he was presented with the unique opportunity to sell his marina interest to two partners and successfully plan, develop and build four major marina on the Great Lakes.
